Can anyone please suggest me a book that will teach calculus from the scratch to a pro. I have no knowledge about the subject and am in search of a book which is easy to understand and from the basics.Please help me.

I am the worst dancer in my class!?

I recently joined a dance class that is basically all summer. I have only danced for a month and I know the instructor I had didn't really help me understand the basics. When we are in groups of four and we have to perform in front of everybody, I still don't get the steps right. I don't understand most of the steps since I never studied ballet or jazz Terminology. ANIME: How can I NOT be a weeaboo?

Does joining the army pay for college?

Hello, I am at high school right now and my teachers believe I am able to go to ivy league colleges like Yale and Harvard. One of my biggest accomplishments so far was getting a boat license and pretty soon a scuba diving one. I am also a straight A student and volunteer. There are also other good things I have done. Yet, I am going to college in two years and my parents have $0 saved up for my college. Yeah my parents don't support me when it comes to school, which makes me feel bad. I know for a fact that my mom won't have enough money to send me to an ivy league school. Let's hypothetically say I make it to Yale and my parents don't have money to send me there, would joining the US army pay for my tuition in Yale? I mean I know I could receive scholarships, since I am a good student and get high scores on SAT's and regents ( I live in New York). But I hear that even scholarships won't pay enough for Yale. I really want to go to Yale or any ivy league school. I don't want to have spend my four years at high school for a standard school. I need some answers please. By the way the only thing that might come back to haunt me is my 28 absences in the ninth grade, because of health reasons. Yet I always go to summer school just for extra credit. I received the equivalent award in the humanities and it's not that big of a deal. It's good if you plan on applying to University of Rochester (which is a great school, although it doesn't have the popular name recognition as the others, it's well known in the academic community), as it qualifies you for a scholarship (I don't know anyone who got the award and didn't get the scholarship). I left it on my resume for all the schools I applied to, I got in everywhere but I would not attribute it to the award.

Trying to find the right college for me?

so, i'll be a junior this upcoming school year. i've begun the college search process. i'm not going to list off my resume and dig around for answers that are like "WOW. that many APs?!" because that's not what I'm looking for. However, I will say that I've become extremely interested in Yale, mainly because I'm very highly considering majoring in History in college and Yale simply is the best for history. Please don't mistake me for simply wanting to go to Yale because of the fact that it's an Ivy or because of its prestige. 700 on Biology M SAT?

No, I don't intend to do pre-med or major in any science. I plan to major in International Relations and my top schools are Princeton, Yale, Columbia, Dartmouth, University of Chicago and Georgetown. My highest SAT ii scores are an 800 in Spanish and a 750 in World History. I'm definitely going to submit my World History score, but up to now I wasn't planning on sending my Spanish score seeing as I live in Puerto Rico and Spanish is clearly my first language. I was banking on getting a 750+ in Bio and then sending that along with World History and a 750+ in one of the Math sat ii's. So, is a 700 acceptable for a non-science major, or should I just submit my Spanish SAT ii instead of Bio?

Not bad, not bad. But you switch tenses a little bit. You say "wore"(past tense) then you say "stops"(present tense). I think the second sentence needs a bit of reworking to make the most sense. Perhaps say "The dress' colors against her shining black hair, which stopped at the end of her hips, had just enough contrast to work perfectly." I changed onyx because when I think onyx, I think a shiny black gem, not really a hair color. And I would rewrite the last sentence, too. Maybe "She completed the outfit with a handmade crown of black and white roses". Just remember that less can sometimes be more :)

As long as you show that you put forth the effort and took advantages of the opportunities presented to you, Harvard is do-able. I always say that the Ivy Leagues take, above all else, immense dedication and commitment. If you have that, you can do it no matter what your background.

I am currently a student at Dartmouth College, however I have a low gpa due to failing science courses for pre med school: it's 3.0. I still want to be a doctor, so am taking another year to do the prereqs and get my gpa up, however i already have the courses for my psych and english major and am thinking of finishing up to get my theater minor as well. I enjoy writing, acting, singing, etc, but that won't pay the bills. What colleges could I get into?

I know it may be a little early to think about college, but I'm just curious. I want to become a doctor. I will be a junior this coming fall. I had a 3.6 gpa freshman year, a 3.8 gpa sophomore year, and am planning to get a 3.9-4.0 gpa junior year.I speak fluent Greek and have many extra curriculars, including sports and instruments. I got a 710 on the SAT II: Chemistry. Assuming I do pretty well on my SATs and ACTs, what colleges do I have a good chance of getting into? I was considering NYU, Tufts, and John Hopkins. And I'm considering applying to one or two Ivy Leagues just for the heck of it (like Brown, Dartmouth, Penn State, Harvard, Yale, etc.) Any suggestions? All answers are appreciated :-)

Which college should I go to?

Now, im not even CLOSE to even high school; I'm still in Elementary School. Anyway, I'm the smartest student in practically the whole school (except for maybe a couple of 6th graders, of course). My parents are always telling me, "Oh, you'll go to Yale" or "Oh, you'll go to Stanford." Well, I've seen both of the colleges online and on TV and I'm torn between the two. Stanford is in California, which is warmer and I've never been there, and my heart is leaning torwards there. Only, Yale is apparently a much better, prettier, and more historic place with better dorms. It's also closer to home, but much colder. I'm from Georgia, and I hate the cold. My father's in the Army, and we've kind of been all over the country in very cold places. I can put up with that for a year, but not four years. I'm now leaning more torwards Yale, but it's colder up there and more expensive. As you see, there's pluses and minuses, and Yale has more pluses but worse minuses. Stanford has more less pluses, and better minuses. Now I'm REALLY stuck in between. I want to hear from as many people as possible. I want peoples' opinions and advice. Please help me!

I am young, not in college yet. I don't know which career to have. I have taken many career tests and none seem to have any affect. I would love to run some type of charity, one that I know where the peoples money goes to. That amp will not be able to power that sub. the max power you will be able to get out of it is 150 watts rms as you can see the sub needs 700 watts rms. you can hook it up and it may sound ok but you probably wont get the big bass your looking for. when looking for an amp. look at rms wattage it gives out not max. good luck.

What grade are you in exactly? Seems like way too close to the drama I experienced back in grade 6. Honestly, at that time, I just kind of sucked it up. My friends and I were the biggest drama queens in the class/school. Chirped out at each other all the time. But, I learned to tell fake people from non-fake people. Need Advice and thoughts about a book im hoping to write one day.....?

I hear your voice developing but it is stressed by your pacing (the rhythm). Keep your personal feel of character/and her thoughts, in one sentence. So you have the story, then as an aside, her feeling or thought. Or, change your style and incorporate your voice style into the dialogue only- as character. It is ok for a first effort, but you must learn how to write better. Try reading it out loud into a recorder in order to hear the rhythm, the pace, and you will probably hear where you need to improve your style. It does not quite get choppy, but it stumbles. The grammer needs to be improved. EX: (at the bottom) "This time a man's voice but this did not make her relax, she knew that voice." If you look at the sentence, it is not a proper sentence at all. I realize writers can put in improper sentences, but this is not an example of that. Your style has gone from personal to romantic to objective story. Pick one and stick with it. Read it aloud and record it, or have someone else read it aloud. You will hear where you need to rewrite. Many new writers have a few voices in their work, just as learning to sing, you will have a few voices come out, all weaved together, just as each part of your personality does a version. That is normal, until you pick one. Write the story from each style and voice, and you may be surprised that the talented "voice/style" in your may not be your favorite. Only you can judge what is good for the listener. Remember that a writer writes for themself, but you hear it back like a listener. Once you have written it, it is no longer yours. It is the reader's now, the love, criticize and talk about.

How do I fix my HP netbook?

So, I've had this netbook for about 2 years now. It was working fine, a little outdated, the internet was slow, no microsoft word, whatever. However, I let my parents take it with them on their trip to Argentina and when they came back the battery was completely blown. Unable to replace it right away, It sat in the corner of my bedroom turned off for a while. Then, I plugged it into the wall and tried to turn it on. It went through the basics: first, an all black screen with informational type was on, it says Press F1 to continue, I press it, and then the Windows screen comes on..but as soon as the loading bar gets to about halfway, the entire thing stops, the screen flashes blue, and it starts over. If I left it on, it would continue to do this. I'm not a big computer person, so I'm not exactly sure how to fix this. I'm aiming to wipe the computer clean and install Windows 7 and Microsoft word, but at this point I can't even get the thing to start up. Any ideas? Is it fixable on my own, or should I just give up and take it to Geek Squad?

You need to re-take the SAT or ACT and study for it. Work on your essays for entrance. When you get out of college you will be competing for jobs, so you had better get used to it.

Why can't my wife support my decisions at all?

I know it's long, but please consider answering. I would be so grateful. We've been together a few years and had our ups and downs. Sometimes she's great and I love her very much. I got out of school and am in the process of finding work. We had some problems last year that involved her flirting with various men, especially with a man at her work. She tore me down when I found out (she was apologetic at first but it didn't last), flirting more at random (delivery guys, repair men, etc.) and insulting me with jokes about my manhood. She eventually showed too much of herself to the young guy down the street (19 or 20 yrs old) and he came over while she was gardening at the side of the house in less than enough clothes. She sat and chatted with him about sports and his soccer team while I fumed inside. We talked about her actions many times and she eventually said it was because she felt I hadn't given her the lifestyle she expected when we met. She expected a big house and three kids by now (she turned 30 recently). But those times when I have worked hard at my part time job during school or spent hours studying, she complained she felt neglected. Lately, I was depressed and lacked motivation and graduation was not good. I thought she might leave at any time. On the job front, many of my classmates have had trouble finding work, but recently I felt really invigorated and motivated. I went downstairs today and basically told my wife that "I'm going to get out there and show these people they can't hold me back." I felt great for the first time in weeks. She immediately turned on me, told me I'm being a jerk and that my only goal should be to be nice to others. I felt like for once, after everything that happened, she could have been happy I had my drive back. She's told me plenty of times to get out there and do what you need. Now when I've been fired up, she says I'm a jerk. When she was looking for her job last month, she was offered a lousy position at a school in a bad part of town, which treated the kids like fools. My wife said she wanted to teach kids to achieve in life, and so held out for another job though she did not know if she would get one. She did, and I supported her in all this. But I'm in Catch-22 with her all the time. At lunch yesterday she said her grandfather had eaten her food (he lives with us). I said I would ask him not to eat her food from the fridge, she said that I was being rude and should respect her grandfather. Today at lunch, same complaint, he had eaten her food again. I said nothing, and so she got angry at me saying I should solve the problem. What was I supposed to do? It bothers me that any answer I have is the wrong answer, whether little issues or big ones. It bothers me that because I don't give her everything she wants she treats me like crap. We have all the basics, she wants extras. Why can't she support me when I need it? Why is everything I do wrong?

I took a small online class, got the basics of Medical Coding. I can pretty much code ALMOST anything, but sometimes it gets complicated. You have a lot more of a chance than most kids and it's great that your thinking about it now but a 3.7 GPA actually won't kill you if your taking rigorous classes or not. I'd suggest cramming for SAT prep and possibly getting college credit, it's big favor with the Ivy League and can cut your freshman workload in half. But honestly there's no way of accurately predicting whether or not you'll pass or fail. Sometimes people with amazing GPA's and stellar SAT scores get rejected while a kid with average grades and a low SAT score gets accepted. It depends on a multitude of things. It doesn't mean you shouldn't try to keep as top of the class though (It'll be considered weird if your not in the top 5% of you class and yet you apply to Yale) Instead of focusing on community work, I'd suggest you try to develop a particular skill in one major area to set you apart from other. Oh, and read the book below.

Did "cheating" just ruin my chances of getting into an ivy league?

So here's the story, a friend was sick and didn't read a passage for an english test we had, and I told him what chapters the test was on.... after he took the test, he told the teacher that I helped him "cheat" to achieve a higher score on the test. The TEACHER told us that the test was going to be on the following chapters too... so basically, I was accused of cheating, which I really didn't do, but it went on my disciplinary record. The other kid basically tried to set me up because he's really unstable, and is a total jerk to me whenever he doesn't need my help, then nags me and plays all nice when he is desperate. I still have a cummulative unweighted GPA of 4.0 (never cheated on a test to raise my score), I have been on varsity soccer, track and field and cross country since freshman year (so basically, 12 varsity letters by graduation), I will have taken 12 weighted classes by the time I graduate. Do I still have a chance to get into a good ivy league college (Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Princeton)?

What are you talking about? Most of the answerers on here tell people to NOT go to Ivy Leagues for the very same reasons you have listed. eri (since I just read one of her answers) always tells people they need a good reason for wanting to go to an Ivy League and that reason can't be prestige. PE2008 tells pretty everyone they have no hope of getting into an Ivy League in the first place. I am one of those people that DID get a full ride to my state college and I tell people to save their money (especially those who are pre-anything).

Hi, I live on the top floor of my low rise flat, it only has two floors! My door Is a fire door that opens from the outside with a normal Yale lock key but once your inside you can't use the key, you have a little nob that you turn to lock the door (obviously so if there was ever a fire and you couldn't find your key you could still open the door), my son is four and he knows how to open these doors and last week my neighbour found him on our communal landing late at night, he has wondered out while we was sleeping!! i agree. i've read the books and also if you've seen the halo wars legendary ending then maybe halo 4 will have some of the spirit of fire's crew members. if they make a 4 then you would probably fight either a new species or angry sentinels or both. oh yeah and there will be a bunch of spartans again and they'll find chief mendez. and replacing cortana (who goes rampant) would be serina and replacing keyes would be cutter and replacing the forward unto dawn would be the spirit of fire and replacing johnson would be maybe mendez or anders (i would say forge but hes dead). the campaign will probably be fighting sentinels and trying to get everyone out of the shield world. sorry if this is long. btw there probably wont be any flood or covenant in this game because the flood and covenant were completely eliminated (except for some covenant species like jackals who just go back to their home planet). if my theory is correct there is a very very very very small chance that halo 4 will be halo wars 2

Hello my name is David and this is my first official question I put on Yahoo answers using this account. My question is this: Will I ever be able to draw good? I am 15 years old and I am going into the 10th grade, but I draw like a kindergartner. I've never really practiced though, and it could just be that I'm impatient about it. But it's really disappointing when I'm drawing and I see that my drawing is turning out to be almost identical to that of a kindergartener. It's a huge put off to me and that's one of the reasons why I don't practice a lot. Most kids my age draw decent to say the least. I draw worse than bad. If I ever get good I wish to draw anime and manga and stuff like that. But currently I can't really even get the basics down so well... Will I ever be able to draw good? Please help me.

Problems with an efficient practice soccer field?

Alright, I live in the country (yes, Howdy Partner want to buy a cow?) and I play soccer. I REALLY REALLY NEED to practices my basics in soccer because they need polishing, badly. The only problem is the 3 acres I live on has NO flat land, NONE. It is bumpy, sandy, snakey, and leafy D:. Apply to every school you are considering. If you don't get in, you don't get in. But don't lose the opportunity you have to be accepted. I didn't think I'd get accepted to A&M so I chose not to apply. Two months later I found out I would have had automatic acceptance. Find an English teacher you trust to review your essays and make suggestions before you send them in on your application. Good luck!

You should be looking at all of the best schools in your field of study, not just the most expensive one. An example would be UC San Diego, or UCLA, both of which are ranked higher than most Ivy League schools in Biological Sciences, both of which have a major research hospital, and you could qualify for in-state tuition a number of ways. If you establish California residency by moving to an inexpensive area with a community college that has a good biomed/premed program, then you will save a huge amount of money for the first two years and it won't make a bit of difference to your degree, since you'll mostly be doing general ed classes anyways. This will save about $30,000 dollars or more. UCSD also has a guaranteed transfer program for California Community College students that follow a specific program that meets their requirements. Also about schools, most students run riot throughout 90% of secondary schools. Nightclubs are 18 unless you have a fake ID.

Ivy, not IV. Everyone applying to those schools has the highest grades in the hardest classes and very high test scores, and those schools accept 6-10% of applicants. You need all that and a lot more to have a shot at them. You also need a good reason for wanting to attend one, which I don't see here. Nothing you do before high school matters.

Okay I am 13 years old and i am having trouble with my makeup. I have an ovalish shaped face, greenish grey eyes, light brown/blonde wavy hair, somewhat full lips, pale skin, and mild acne. I already use makeup but i want to look really good and i dont think it is. I start off using Almay clear complexion makeup(naked). I then go on and put on super stay concealer(ivory). Then I put on Revlon color stay aqua mineral makeup(fair/light). I then go on to my eyes. I put black(onyx) maybelline new york unstoppable eyeliner on my waterline. Then I put on Maybelline Newyork black maskara. If I have time i put on silver eyeliner on the top. That is my ruitine. Please recomend anything i should or shouldnt do with my makeup, any makeup suggestions(cheap), also i have no brushes except for the ones that come with the makeup so can you also list some good brushes! What should I know before taking care of a cat? (or cats)?

Cats are pretty easy to take care of. You need to make sure they have food and water and a cat box. They are pretty flexible, if you get your cat a cat bed it may or may not decide to use it, it might prefer to snuggle up with you. They like to be petted, they like their chins scratched, they like to play especially as kittens, a simple string to chase is often enough to entertain them for hours. They are affectionate on their own terms. When you get the cat box use good cat litter, somehow the cat knows what it is and what its for, and clean the cat box every few days or so. Take kitty to the vet for vaccinations. I always have fed our cats dry food, I was told canned food has something in it that harms cat kidneys or urinary systems. I have had a couple of cats who lived to be 21, they never stopped being sweet loving little friends, they were wonderful. Enjoy!

Each class is about 1 hour, 7 classes total, always expect drama in high school (-_-), Christmas break, spring break, summer break, lunch is paid for by you unless paid by school is needed, lunch at 12, 5 minutes between class, and remember, if you mess with someone in high school you're going to get messed with, and you ain't gonna like it.

What should I study when I grow up?

Here's my dilemma. I'm currently 15, doing IGCSE (first year) and I really don't know what to study when I get into college. Thing is, my marks are pretty high. I have an 18 in Extended Mathematics, 17 in English Literature & First Language, 18 in Spanish Literature, 17 in History, 17 in Geography, 16 in Economics, and well, a bad 11 in Coordinated Sciences. I would say my marks are rather high, and I'm definetly in the top 30% of the whole grade. I, however, do not know how much will my marks influence my entry opportunities to high-prestige universities (e.g. Manchester University, Yale, Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford, Princeton, etc.), I'm obviously doing IB when I reach 11th grade, but I'm having doubts on what to study. I'm really good in Mathematics (the teacher has said to me that I should follow Mathematics High in the International Baccalaureate), really good in Literature (both narratives I wrote in English and/or Spanish got 20's) althought my favourite course is History. I thought I might study either Literature, Philosophy, Businesses Management, or even become a Mathematician. I'm definetly gettin a PhD in any field I decide to study, but I cannot make my mind up.
