Is college hard or is it just not for me?

I am currently attending college, I've been here for 2 semesters and I am currently doing the summer courses. These classes have become super difficult for me, I am horrible at taking notes, and I am not very good at writing essays. I feel like I am going to fail my summer courses which is American Heritage II and Politics... My major is math and I planned on becoming an engineer or math teacher but I have no idea if I can do this anymore, I am struggling with my basics and I assume that it will get harder... I have no idea what to do... should i drop or keep trying... My family isn't rich btw so its not like i can fail and keep trying without worrying about the cost.
