What is the cheapest way to get from New Haven (Yale) to New york back and forth often for 7 days?

Going by bus takes several hours at peak times (6-10 a.m. and 3-9 p.m.) on weekdays, because of traffic. If you want to do this reasonably quickly, take the train instead. The Metro-North train is much cheaper than the Amtrak train.
