I am a new MLB watcher and I love it, but am new. Basics please?

I have lived in a house where football was the sport that was watched, but I recentally talked the other members of the house into letting me watch some baseball. I really enjoy it, but honestly don't know what things mean. I understand the game most of the time, but is there a book or website that could tell me some of the abbreviations and stuff?
